CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS


WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The Canisius College rowing program matched its best overall finish at the MAAC Championship on Friday, placing third overall as a team, with 45 points. The Griffs varsity eight had the best day for Canisius, finishing the grand finals in third place with a time of 7:32.88. The third-place finish matches the best finish the Golden Griffins have tallied at the conference tournament, first accomplished in the 2012-13 season.


The varsity eight, consisting of Mackenzie AppAlexandria HoltShannon PritzkerKira Voyer, Tara Federow, Kathryn HobikaJessica FabianSydney Bichsel and Misa Gamble, worked a second-place finish in their respective heat to open the race in the preliminary round with a time of 7:49.68, before tallying the third place finish in the finals. Jacksonville  and Marist were the only teams to best the Blue and Gold.


In the second varsity eight, the boat of Bridget LillisChanel DavisAudrey RiemanMichelle TurnerMolly MurphyPatricia BeaulieuEmma VicarettiBrooke Stanley, and Grace Horner, placed fourth in the finals with a time of 7:53.81.  Jacksonville bested the field, while Marist and Fairfield rounded out the top four.


The Canisius varsity four managed a fourth-place showing in the finals as the team of Alexandria HoltLiz DelBarbaMelissa FrankErin Grim and Kaitlyn Taylor clocked in with a time of 8:58.16. Jacksonville, Marist, and Fairfield rounded out the top three spots.
