The Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY) revealed its 2017 D3 Upstate Team today and Buffalo State’s Lovell Smith (Buffalo/McKinley) was among the 10 player honored.

Smith, a senior guard, ended his Buffalo State career as the program’s eighth highest-scoring player of all-time with 1,303 points.  He finished the year fifth in the SUNYAC averaging 19.9 points per game, and was second in overall field goal percentage, shooting 56.6 percent.  Smith was also named named first team All-SUNYAC and was recognized on the conference All-Tournament Team.

Buffalo State went 17-9 overall and 10-8 in SUNYAC, reaching the conference semifinals as the No. 5 seed before falling by one point in overtime to eventual champion Oswego.
