RIPLEY — The New York State Police at Fredonia are investigating a personal injury motorcycle accident that occurred at approximately 9:17 p.m. Sunday on State Route 20.

A Trooper on patrol reported that a motorcycle operated by a 45-year-old Westfield man passed his marked patrol vehicle on a double solid line at a high rate of speed, and then subsequently failed to negotiate a slight curve in the roadway, striking a guiderail. The operator was then ejected from his motorcycle and came to rest in a field adjacent to the roadway.

He was transported by State Medivac Helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio where he is listed in critical condition.

The State Police investigation into this accident is continuing.
