BUFFALO — With the completion of the MAAC Women’s Lacrosse quarterfinal games on Saturday, the focus now shifts to the 2017 MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship, which will be hosted by Canisius College Friday and Sunday at the Demske Sports Complex.

Canisius, the 2017 MAAC regular-season champions, will host Niagara on Friday, May 5, at 8 p.m. in the second semifinal game. The Purple Eagles (9-9, 5-3 MAAC) earned a trip to the semifinal round by defeating No. 5 seed Monmouth 16-4 on Saturday from Lewiston, N.Y. Canisius defeated Niagara 18-9 when the two teams met in the regular-season finale April 26, to go a perfect 8-0 in conference play for a third straight season.

The first semifinal game of the tournament will be played at 4 p.m. on May 5, with the contest featuring No. 2 seed Fairfield and No. 3 seed Marist. Marist (10-8, 5-3 MAAC) earned a trip to the MAAC Women’s Lacrosse semifinals by beating Quinnipiac 17-10 at home on Saturday afternoon. Fairfield (11-5, 7-1 MAAC) defeated Marist 10-9 in overtime on April 15 when the two teams met in Poughkeepsie.

The winners of the MAAC semifinal games will meet in the MAAC Championship game on Sunday, May 7, with a start time set for 12 p.m. All three games in the MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship tournament will be broadcast live on ESPN3. Tickets for the event are now on sale at maac.ticketleap.com, or by calling the Canisius Ticket Office at (716) 888-TIXX.

Tickets for both rounds of the Championship will be $10 for adults and $5 for students, children and seniors. Group tickets will also be available for groups of 15 or more.
