BUFFALO — Buffalo State fell to nationally-ranked Cortland, 19-5 in a SUNYAC contest on its Senior Day at Coyer Field this afternoon.  Despite the result, the Bengals secured a spot in the conference playoffs for the first time since 2015 as the No. 6 seed.

Jackie Dufresne (Lake View/Frontier) finished with a team-high two goals for the Bengals. Christina Krowel (Amsterdam/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), Cassie Saint-Vil (Middletown/Middletown) and Christina Standinger (Palmyra/Palmyra-Macedon) each chipped in a goal for Buffalo State. Morgan Hogue (Painted Post/Corning) and Saint-Vil registered an assist apiece. Cortland started off the game on fire, as the Red Dragons scorched the Bengals for ten unanswered goals to open the game. Dufresne got the Bengals on the board with 9:37 left to play in the first half. Cortland struck again, but was answered immediately with another goal by Dufresne to make it 11-2 with 5:17 left in the half. The Red Dragons scored again, and took a 12-2 lead into halftime. Cortland started off the second half with four unanswered goals to take a commanding 16-2 lead. Saint-Vil, Standinger and Krowel all scored in the second, but it was too late as Cortland left Buffalo with a 19-5 victory. Watch Dufresne get the Bengals on the board first in the opening half. Watch senior Saint-Vil find the back of the net off a free position attempt.
