LOCKPORT — State Sen.  Rob Ortt, R-North Tonawanda, will join local veterans, veterans service representatives and Niagara County officials on Thursday to announce he has secured additional funding to continue the PFC Joseph P. Dwyer Peer Support Program in Niagara County and expand it across the state.

A total of $370,000 has been secured for the Dwyer program since it was implemented in Niagara County in 2016. Additionally, a total of $3.1 million has been secured as part of the 2017-18 State Budget to expand the program to other counties throughout the state. Senator Ortt and local representatives will discuss the importance of the program, which offers peer-to-peer support opportunities for veterans dealing with substance abuse, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) post combat.
