ALBION — A 59-year-old Albion man was charged with official misconduct on Saturday following an investigation that New York State Police say revealed he was posing as a law enforcement officer.

The NYSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation began the investigation on April 6 due to a complaint that Walter R. Batt unlawfully performed vehicle and traffic stops. During the investigation the Orleans County Sheriffs were contacted to determine if Batt was affiliated with the department. Batt was not employed or otherwise affiliated with that department. Batt is an Albion Volunteer Fireman and had emergency lights on his vehicle.

He was issued an appearance ticket to the Town of Albion Court to appear in May.
