TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A 61-year-old Lockport woman was charged Sunday with driving while ability impaired by drugs and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance following a motor vehicle accident investigation.

According to New York State Police, Troopers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on South Transit and Bartz roads in the Town of Lockport.  The investigation revealed Marquita D. Woolford struck another motor vehicle while making a right turn from South Transit Road on to Bartz Road. She was suspected of being impaired by drugs after stating she had taken medication just prior to the accident. She was also found in possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Woolford was taken to the Lockport Troopers’ barracks for processing where she was evaluated by a drug recognition expert.  She refused to consent to a blood test for further analysis.

She was arraigned in Lockport Town Court and released to a third party with orders to return to court at a later date.
