Canisius Junior Travis Wright and head diving coach Ian O’ Rourke competed in the 2017 USA Diving Synchronized National Championships this past weekend from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga., placing seventh overall with a score of 510.96.

The competition, which was headlined by recent Olympic Silver Medalists Sam Dorman and Michael Hixon, also served as a selection trial for the 2017 FINA World Championships taking place in Indianapolis, Ind. this coming May.

With his efforts in the Championship, Wright qualified for the FINA Championships, which will be held May 19-21 at the Indiana University Natatorium.

The final eight spots on the 2017 World Championship team will be determined at the trials, with two spots at stake in each of the individual 3-meter and 10-meter events for both men and women. The World Championships will be held July 14-22 in Budapest, Hungary.
