LOCKPORT — Earth Day is fast approaching and that means it’s time for the annual Erie Canal Trailway Cleanup.
Windsor Village, 43 Stevens Street, is sponsoring the State Street section of this year’s cleanup — in conjunction with the NYS Parks and Trails.
In their second year of sponsoring the event, they are hoping to make the trail welcoming to the West End of Lockport by planting more flower seeds, cleaning out natural sitting areas and cleaning up winter debris.
Participants are asked to meet at 8:30 a.m. at Windsor for sign up and assignments with the goal to be on the trail by 9 a.m. The first 25 volunteers get free t-shirts. Those taking part are asked to bring rakes or any tools you think will be helpful.
Following the cleanup — at 1 p.m. — there will be hot dogs and chips available.
