TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A 24-year-old Middleport man is facing charges for of driving while ability impaired by drugs after New York State Police found his car in the ditch off Transit Road.
Police say investigation revealed Michael J. Smith was operating the vehicle and was suspected of being impaired by drugs other than alcohol. He was transported to SP Lockport for processing where he was evaluated by a drug recognition expert who determined Smith was impaired by an unknown opiate, depressant and a stimulant. He consented to a blood test for further analysis.
Smith was released on a traffic ticket returnable to the Town of Lockport Court at a later date.
