BUFFALO — No. 18 St. John Fisher converted just 18 shot attempts into 13 goals as it dealt host Buffalo State a 13-7 defeat in a non-conference game today at Coyer Field.

Christina Krowel (Amsterdam/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) paced Buffalo State’s offense with four goals and one assist. Alanna Herne (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) chipped in a goal and three assists. Cassie Saint-Vil (Middletown/Middletown) and Morgan Hogue (Painted Post/Corning) added a goal apiece, and Jackie Dufresne (Lake View/Frontier) had two assists. The Cardinals jumped out to a 4-0 in the opening eight minutes. Buffalo State netted the next two goals to cut the margin to two, but the Bengals would never get closer the rest of the way.

The Cardinals led 9-3 at the intermission and pushed the advantage to 13-4 with 21 minutes remaining, before Buffalo State scored the final three goals of the contest. Buffalo State had a 19-18 advantage in shots and had a 13-9 edge in draw controls, but could match the Cardinals efficiency on offense. Elyse Stark (Lido Beach/Long Beach) made one save while allowing six goals in the first 20 minutes before being relieved by Megan Doyle (Palmyra/Palmyra-Macedon) who had two stops, while conceding seven goals.

Buffalo State will return to SUNYAC play on Saturday at Potsdam at 1 p.m.
