2017 marks the 30th anniversary of Windsong Radiology Group, PC, which has come a long way since its humble beginning back in 1987. In the early days, Windsong was known as Harlem Radiology, PC, and located in a remodeled Pizza Hut, employing only 5 people. Today Windsong has 270 employees including 18 radiologists, two breast surgeons, nurse practitioners and physician assistants at six locations. Its flagship location in Williamsville is among the busiest standalone imaging facilities in the nation, with over 340,000 annual visits.

Windsong Radiology attributes its growth to a deep-seated commitment to putting the patient first. The practice is highly regarded for its reputation of pursuing and acquiring the most advanced technology available and employing only highly trained, certified technologists and fellowship trained radiologists. It has been the largest provider of the state-of-the-art 3D MammographyTM technology since 2011, which provides a clearer, more accurate view of the breast – making it possible to identify abnormalities. Windsong also offers prostate MRI, a technology that allows radiologists to better visualize the prostate gland and determine if a biopsy is needed. Windsong was also the first accredited low dose CT lung cancer screening center in the area.

Another leap forward for the practice was the addition of its minimally and non-invasive treatments in its AAAASF accredited ambulatory surgery center in 2013. “Windsong continues to set the highest standards for interventional procedures requiring conscious sedation,” says Tammy Day, Manager of the Interventional Services Program.

Windsong Radiology was also the first radiology center in WNY recognized as a Breast Center of Excellence by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. The practice is dedicated to offering the right exam at the right time and works closely with referring physicians, patients, and local insurance carriers to establish the least invasive and most medically-appropriate procedures.
Awards for clinical excellence, business success and community leadership have been abundant over the years for Windsong Radiology and its physicians. Windsong Radiology strongly supports the Western New York community, donating tens of thousands of dollars to Susan G. Komen WNY, the American Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Network, City Mission, American Lung Association and the American Heart Association.

Dr. Thomas Summers, President of Windsong Radiology shared, “As we celebrate this extraordinary anniversary of 30 years, we look back at the many successes we’ve accomplished but we also look forward to the new and exciting strategic opportunities ahead. As an organization, we promise never to lose sight of what made us successful in the first place – making certain that our patients always come first.”
