BUFFALO — Buffalo Sabres fans had just three more chances this season to watch their team win at home. Now they have just two.

The Sabres gave up a pair of third-period goals to Anders Lee in a 4-2 losing effort to the New York Islanders. Lee’s goals game at 9:19 and 14:33 of the period.

Cal Clutterback scored the first Islanders goal at 9:31 of the first period, assisted by Nick Leddy. A full period later, Evander Kane tied the game at 10:08 of the second, assisted by C.J. Smith. It was Kane’s 27th goal of the season and Smith’s first point with the team. New York re-took the lead less than a minute later on a Joshua Ho-Sang goal at 11:04. Dennis Seidenberg assisted.

In the third, Zemgus Girgensons tied the game again at 5:17, assisted by Matt Moulson and William Carrier. Then Lee’s goals ended fans’ chances to see a win at KeyBank Center.

The Sabres can try again to win in front of the home crowd on Monday when the Leafs visit and on Wednesday when Montreal comes to town. The Sabres play their last two games of the season Saturday and Sunday against Florida and Tampa, respectively.
