ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Junior Alanna Herne (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) became the fifth player in Buffalo State history to record her 200th career point, but it came in a 16-10 loss at Muhlenberg today in a non-conference contest.

Herne led the Bengals with five points on three goals and two assists, giving her 117 goals and 84 assists for 201 points in just 39 career games. Christina Krowel (Amsterdam/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) added two goals and an assist, while Nina Schaefer (Lafayette/Lafayette) also scored twice. Cassie Saint-Vil (Middletown/Middletown), Jackie Dufresne (Lake View/Frontier) and Kyra Thompson (Massena/Salmon River) added a goal apiece for the Bengals. Schaefer netted both of her goals in the opening five minutes to push Buffalo State out to an early 2-0 lead, but Muhlenberg answered with five-straight goals and never trailed again. The Mules led 8-5 at halftime.

Buffalo State scored first in the second half to cut the deficit to two, but Muhlenberg responded with three goals in a minute and 30 seconds and never let the Bengals threaten the rest of the way. Muhlenberg controlled play for the bulk of the game, outshooting the Bengals 46-21, including 39-17 on goal.
Both Buffalo State goalkeepers were strong with Elyse Stark (Lido Beach/Long Beach) making 11 stops and allowing eight goals, and Megan Doyle (Palmyra/Palmyra-Macedon) turning aside 12 shots while giving up eight goals. The Mules also had a 26-12 advantage in ground balls, a 19-10 edge in draw controls, and forced 22 Bengal turnovers while only committing 11.

Buffalo State will visit nationally-No. 17 ranked William Smith on Saturday at 1 p.m.
