BUFFALO — The Sidney Crosby-led Pittsburgh Penguins delivered a 3-1 defeat to the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center.

Crosby started the scoring with less than 10 seconds remaining in the first period, beating Robin Lehner with the assistance of Justin Schultz and Conor Sheary.

The game stood at 1-0 throughout the entire second period. Sam Reinhart tied it for the Blue & Gold at 2:09 of the third, assisted by Hudson Fasching and Marcus Foligno. Nick Bonino put the Penguins back on top at 14:31. Ian Cole and Tom Kuhnhackl assisted. Sheary put the game away at 16:29, unassisted.

Robin Lehner made 31 saves against Crosby and company.

The Sabres return to action on Saturday when Toronto visits KeyBank Center.
