DETROIT — A pair of power play goals by the Buffalo Sabres put them over the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.

Jack Eichel netted the Sabres first goal at 10:59 of the first period, assisted by Ryan O’Reilly and Rasmus Ristolainen.

Matt Moulson made it 2-0 at 8:59 of the second period, assisted by Tyler Ennis and Jake McCabe. Tomas Tatar pulled Detroit to within a goal just under three minutes later, assisted by Mike Green and Henrik Zetterberg.

But the Sabres maintained the 2-1 lead until the final horn.

The victory was the Sabres second straight and gives them a 2-2 record on the four-game road swing. The Sabres now have a 30-31-12 record for 73 points, still 9 points out of a playoff spot thanks to a Toronto win tonight over Boston.

The Sabres are back in action Tuesday night when the Pittsburgh Penguins visit KeyBank Center.
