BUFFALO — Canisius Redshirt junior, Liam Wilson was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference player of the week, after batting .500 with six hits and six RBI against George Mason. It’s the first weekly award for the baseball program this season, and the first such award for Wilson.

Wilson finished the weekend with six hits and six RBI to go along with two doubles, and one stolen base. He also tallied a on-base percentage of .571 and a slugging mark of .667.

His best game came in the team’s only loss of the weekend, as he powered a late comeback, with four hits and three RBI, erasing a 5-0 deficit, forcing extra innings. Eventually the Patriots plated the winning run in the contest.

Wilson, notched one hit in the next two games, including a three-run double in the series finale, as he helped topple George Mason, 7-1.

Wilson is second on the team in batting average this season with a .342 mark, and is tied for first on the team in RBI with 13.

Canisius baseball continues its season with one final non-conference series before it comes home for its conference home opener on April 1. The Griffs head to Kennesaw, Ga., for a four-game set with the Owls beginning on Friday and concluding on Sunday.
