BUFFALO — The corned beef for Big Ditch Brewing Company‘s “Breuben” is brined in Excavator Rye Brown Ale — because, of course it is.

The sandwich was voted by All WNY News & Radio readers as Western New York’s Best Reuben in the latest of our series of All WNY Awards.

Big Ditch’s Tap Room restaurant opened in the summer of 2015, serving Big Ditch beers and a full menu at 55 East Huron St. Other menu items include their Hayburner Wings (tossed in Hayburner IPA), Hayburner Chili (also made with Hayburner IPA), and Excavator’s Meatloaf (topped with a brown sugar Excavator Rye Brown Ale glaze). Plus pizza, burgers — including a duck burger — and more. Their full menu is available online.

Big Ditch had big competition from 20 other Western New York eateries, including: Buffalo’s 727 Elmwood, Amy’s Place, Blackthorne Restaurant & Pub, Conlon’s Bar & Grill, Danny’s Restaurant (winner of our Best Soup award), Dinosaur BBQ, Gene McCarthy’s, Globe Market, Joe’s Deli, and Lake Effect Diner; plus Magnolia’s, Tap & Mallet and The Wintonaire in Rochester, Kalamata Family Restaurant and One Eyed Jacks in Lockport, Fred’s in Fredonia, Taylors Tap and Grill in Niagara Falls, Winfield’s Pub in Lackawanna, Shannon Pub in Tonawanda, and Mooney’s in West Seneca.

As winners of the Best Reuben award, Big Ditch earns bragging rights and $60 in advertising credit from All WNY News & Radio. Plus the certificate (above) looks really nice on a wall.
