A report issued by Newsday today says that the Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers will play Jan. 1 at Citi Field in Queens in the 2018 Winter Classic.
This year’s Winter Classic was hosted by the St. Louis Blues on Jan. 2. They played the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Sabres and Rangers have each played in the Winter Classic before with Buffalo playing the Pittsburgh Penguins at then-Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park in the first Winter Classic. New York played the Philadephia Flyers in Philly in 2012.
Neither the NHL nor either of the teams have confirmed the Newsday report.
