AMHERST — The 32nd annual Buffalo International Jewish Film Festival – the third longest running festival of its kind in North America – will present 13 award-winning and critically acclaimed films from around the world including Canada, France, Germany, Israel, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The festival is also pleased to welcome Director Alan Feinberg who grew up in Buffalo and now lives in Florida. His film, Bagels over Berlin, celebrates Jewish veterans of the Army Air Corp who contributed to the Allied victory in World War II. Feinberg interviewed 30 Jewish veterans including television show creator Norman Lear, and learned about the many American Jews that served in the Army Air Corps, later named the Air Force, and delved into the personal and emotional stories the veterans had to share. Feinberg will attend both the Friday film screening at 3:30 p.m. and March 20 screening at 8 pm and will introduce the film and lead a Q&A sessions following.

This year the BIJFF includes for the first time, four films from The Ma’aleh School of Film and Television. Situated in the heart of Jerusalem, Ma’aleh is the only film school in the world devoted to exploring the intersection of Judaism and modern life.

Tickets and passes may be purchased in advance at either JCC member services desk, online at www.bijff.com or at the theater door ½ hour prior to each film. General single film tickets are $10 each, while a flex-pass of six tickets may be purchased for $50. Children aged 18 and under are free with a parent to any film.
Films will be shown from Friday through March 23 at the Amherst Dipson Theatre, 3500 Main Street.
