BUFFALO — Sandor Lorant Felhazi, 32, of Hungary, pleaded guilty to attempting to re-enter the United States following a felony conviction, before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie Lamarque, who is handling the case, stated that on Feb. 7, Felhazi attempted to enter the United States at the Rainbow Bridge port of Entry. The defendant was previously convicted in Georgia and Texas of felony theft, manufacturing false identification documents and tampering with governmental records. As a result, Felhazi needed permission to reapply for admission into the United States.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 21.
