EDISON, N.J. – Senior pitcher Daniel Procopio and freshman pitcher Matthew Brash earned weekly MAAC Baseball honors following the Purple Eagles’ impressive 3-1 weekend at the University of Virginia Tournament. Procopio was named MAAC Pitcher of the Week and Brash was selected as MAAC Rookie of the Week.
In Niagara’s 8-5 victory over the La Salle Explorers on Friday, March 3, Procopio struck out a career-high 12 batters in 6.0 innings pitched. He allowed only one hit, one run and walked one batter. He finished the day with a 1.50 ERA while improving to 2-1 on the season.
Brash picked up his second win of the season against La Salle on Sunday, March 5. In 6.0 innings pitched, Brash (2-0) struck out seven batters and allowed only one hit in Niagara’s 9-0 shutout of the Explorers.
