Buffalo State goaltender Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling/Pawling) will get a chance to continue his hockey career, as the SUNYAC Goalie of the Year signed a standard professional contract with the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL today, per the team’s release.

DeLaVergne starts his professional career with Atlanta after a stand-out, four-year career with the Bengals.  The senior netminder posted a career record of 27-18-8, a 2.23 goals against average and .926 save percentage, and was named the conference goalie of the year in back-to-back seasons.

The Pawling native recorded his best numbers  in 2016-17, backstopping Buffalo State to a program single-season record of 18 wins to go with a 1.98 GAA (10th-best in Division III) and .927 save percentage (18th in D-III) as the Bengals advanced to the SUNYAC Semifinals for the sixth-consecutive year.

DeLaVergne ends his time at Buffalo State as the program’s all-time leader in GAA (2.23) and save percentage (.926).  He is second all-time with 37 career wins and six career shutouts.
