WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today issued a statement on Republican plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act and replace it with a different healthcare and insurance bill.

Gillibrand said the GOP plan will be harmful to middle class families while giving tax breaks to insurance companies and the wealthy.

Her statement follows in its entirety:

“I believe health care is a human right and that Americans should never be denied access to quality, affordable health care. President Trump’s health care proposal would force middle class families and seniors to pay more money for less care and leave more people uninsured, all while giving huge tax breaks to insurance companies and the highest wage earners. It would cripple state budgets by cutting Medicaid funding and would give health insurance companies a special tax break for CEOs who make over half a million dollars. I will do everything I can to stop this assault on the health and economic security of middle class families and seniors.”
