BLACKSBURG, Va. — The Canisius diving program took part in day one of the Zone A Diving Championships Monday afternoon from Virginia Tech.

Junior Travis Wright finished 17th in the men’s one meter finals event, scoring 282.15, and totaled 567.45 points for the day. Wright also placed 17th in the opening preliminary event with a score of 285.30, while senior Brent Carbone placed 34th in the prelim at 236.55.

Wright’s performance in the one meter event topped his score for a year prior at the Championship where he totaled 546.25 points, also placing seventeenth.

In the women’s three meter diving event, sophomore Vivian Mroz placed 48th in the preliminary event with a score of 205.10.

The divers will return for the second day of competition tomorrow, with the men taking part in the three meter event and the women in the one meter.
