WHEATFIELD — A 34-year-old North Tonawanda man was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, fourth-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest following an incident on Lockport Avenue.
According to New York State Police, Troopers responded to to the scene for a report of a vehicle stuck in the front lawn of a residence. There they found Jason J. Jafari in the driver’s seat of a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck that was stuck in a residential lawn with the truck still in drive and the engine running.
Troopers determined Jafari to be intoxicated although he refused to answer any questions or perform field sobriety tests. While being placed under arrest, Jafari attempted to leave the scene on foot but was taken into custody without further incident. Investigation revealed he had driven his truck across a second residential lawn causing damage to it.
He was taken to the Lockport Troopers’ barracks for processing, where he refused a breath test. He was then arraigned arraigned in the Town of Wheatfield Court where he was remanded to the Niagara County Jail in lieu of $350 cash/$750 bond.
