BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo football team will kick off the 2017 season on August 31 at Minnesota. Buffalo released its entire 2017 football schedule on Wednesday.
The opener against Minnesota will be Buffalo’s second trip to the “Land of 10,000 Lakes.” Buffalo played the Gophers in 2002 at the Metrodome. This year’s game will be played at TCF Bank Stadium – an on-campus facility that opened in 2009. Minnesota is led by former Western Michigan head coach P.J. Fleck.
Week two will feature a trip to West Point to take on Army on September 9. The Bulls last played at Army in 2014 and are coming off a last season’s thrilling 23-20 overtime win over the Black Knights at UB Stadium.
Buffalo will host Colgate in its home opener on September 16 followed by a home game against Florida Atlantic on September 23. The Owls are coached by Lane Kiffen – his first season with the program.
The Bulls will open Mid-American Conference play at Kent State on September 30 followed by two straight at home. UB will host defending MAC champion Western Michigan on October 7 and Northern Illinois on October 14. The October 7 game against Western Michigan will be homecoming.
Buffalo will close out the month of October with consecutive road games. The Bulls will play at Miami (OH) on October 21 and at Akron on October 28.
November football means #MACtion and the Bulls will close the season with three weeknight games. Buffalo will host Bowling Green on Tuesday, November 7. The game will air on either ESPN2 or ESPNU. UB’s final road game will be at Ball State on Thursday, November 16 and will air on the CBS Sports Network.
The Bulls will host Ohio in the final game of the regular season on Friday, November 24. The game will air on either ESPNU, CBS Sports Network or ESPN3.
