TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A 45-year-old Newfane man was charged Sunday with fourth-degree grand larceny, accused of stealing a purse from a Walmart shopper.

According to New York State Police, investigation revealed a shopper inadvertently left her purse in a shopping cart. When she returned to the cart the purse was gone. Store surveillance video showed a male suspect taking the purse and leaving the store. The suspect entered a dark colored Chevy Malibu and drove off. Among the items in the purse was an iPhone which contained the find my iphone app. Troopers used the app to locate the phone in the area of Main Street and Ketchum Road in the Town of Newfane. The suspect and his vehicle were located at a nearby residence with the stolen purse.

The suspect was identified as Ronnie W. Clines Jr., who admitted to the theft. He was placed under arrest and transported to SP Lockport for processing before being released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Lockport Court at a later date.
