OSWEGO — Nationally-ranked No. 13/14 Buffalo State saw its season end in the SUNYAC semifinals for the sixth-consecutive season tonight as No. 2 Oswego netted five-straight goals, including four in the third period to pull away for a 6-2 victory.

Buffalo State weathered some early pressure by the Lakers and the first period ended in a scoreless draw. After the Bengals were unable to convert on one minute and 15 seconds of power-play time to open the second stanza, it was Oswego that struck first to take a 1-0 lead. Zach Nieminen (Ajax, ON/Notre Dame CSS) evened the score less than two minutes later however, one-timing a blast into the top corner for his ninth goal of the season.  Michael Anthony Guerrera (Montreal, QC/OHA) and Jake Rosen (E. Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) were credited with the assists.
The Lakers reclaimed the lead late in the period on the power play, and took a 2-1 edge into the final 20 minutes.

Oswego extended its lead just 1:04 into the third period and would add three more goals on three-consecutive shots later in the frame to pull away for the victory. Jonathan Colley (Stouffville, ON/Stouffville District) stopped the bleeding for Buffalo State with his fourth goal of the season on the power play with less than four minutes remaining with assists from Collin O’Connor (Kankakee, IL/Providence Catholic) and Marcus Michalski (Woodstock, ON/St. Mary’s). Oswego outshot the Bengals, 42-27. Senior Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling, NY/Pawling) finished with 36 saves in his final game as a Bengal. Buffalo State was 2 for 4 on the power play, while the Lakers were 1 for 3.
