WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Congressman Brian Higgins said the resignation of National Security Advisor Michael Flynn raises questions about the Trump administration.

Higgins said Americans “are witnessing a dangerous pattern” from President Trump’s administration.

Higgins’ full statement follows:

“The resignation of President Trump’s National Security Advisor Michael Flynn represents just the latest in a series of actions that raise more questions about the Administration’s ability to handle information and policies of critical consequence to the security of our nation.
“From questionable dealings with Russia, to an Executive Order drafted without adequate counsel from legal and Homeland Security experts, and a very public display of the Administration inability to protect top-level information, Americans are witnessing a dangerous pattern that fails to recognize the serious repercussions of lax judgement in handling highly sensitive material.”

Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) sat on the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee and Committee on Homeland Security from 2011-2016. Higgins served as ranking member of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence for five years.  For the 115th Congress, Rep. Higgins was named to the Committees on Budget and Ways and Means.
