BUFFALO — Buffalo State jumped out to a 25-9 lead halfway through the first half, but a resilient Oswego team came back and escaped with a 69-68 victory in a SUNYAC contest this afternoon at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.

Mike Henry (Syracuse/West Genesee) finished with a game-high 18 points and chipped in seven rebounds and four steals. Nico McLean (Buffalo/Amherst) added 15 points and five boards.
Jordan Glover (Buffalo/St. Joes) finished with 13 points, three rebounds and four assists. The Bengals started strong, jumping out to a 25-9 lead a little more than halfway through the opening half. Buffalo State remained in control and took a 33-26 lead into halftime.

Oswego State caught fire in the second half, shooting 55.6 percent as a team to close the game.
The Bengals extended their lead to nine with less than 15 minutes to play in regulation when Oswego went on an 8-0 run to cut the lead to one with 12 minutes left. The two teams traded blows down the stretch, with five lead changes before Oswego gained a 69-66 lead with a little over two minutes left. Henry hit two free throws to bring the Bengals back within one with 1:25 left to play.
A Buffalo State 3-pointer with five seconds remaining fell short as the Lakers escaped with a 69-68 victory. Even with today’s outcome, Buffalo State clinched a playoff spot in the conference championships to take place later this month.  It is still yet to be decided whether the team will be the No. 5 or No. 6 seed in the tournament.

Buffalo State concludes its regular season with its Senior Day against Fredonia, next Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.  The Bengals will be on the road for its SUNYAC quarterfinal game on Tuesday, Feb. 21.  Game time is still to be determined.
