BUFFALO — Buffalo State led 36-34 at halftime, but Cortland caught fire in the second, shooting 61.3 percent from the field to knock off the Bengals, 85-65 in a SUNYAC contest this evening at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.

Princella McCullough (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) recorded her ninth double-double of the season as she finished the game with a team-high 15 points and 12 rebounds. Mariah Rosario (Flushing/Robert F. Kennedy) chipped in 12 points and added four boards. Shayasha Spencer (Geneva/Geneva) and Grace Licata (Williamsville/Williamsville South) each added nine points.
Buffalo State found themselves down 7-0 a little over a minute into the game, but battled back to take a 22-21 lead at the end of the first quarter. The second was another back and forth affair, with the Bengals holding onto a 36-34 lead at the half.

Cortland flipped the script in the third, outscoring Buffalo State, 28-13 to take a 62-49 lead into the fourth. The Red Dragons continued their hot shooting in the final quarter to close out the 85-65 victory.

Buffalo State takes on Oswego tomorrow for its Senior Day, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.
