BUFFALO — Princella McCullough’s (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) layup with two seconds left lifted Buffalo State over Oswego, 65-63, on Senior Night in a SUNYAC contest this evening at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.
McCullough recorded her tenth double-double of the season in the victory, as she recorded 11 points and 14 rebounds to go with five blocks, three steals and two assists. Caleh McLean (New Rochelle/New Rochelle) finished with a game-high 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting to go with four steals. Kaelee Lynch (Atwater, CA/Buhach Colony) added 14 points while Grace Licata (Williamsville/Williamsville South) chipped in nine in the win. The Bengals trailed 28-23 heading into halftime after a back and forth first half.
Buffalo State went on a 25-13 run in the third quarter to take a 48-41 lead into the fourth. The Bengals led by as much as 13 in the final quarter, but Oswego went on a 22-9 run over the final eight minutes to tie the game at 63 with 12 seconds remaining. After a timeout, Buffalo State ran a set play with Licata inbounding the ball. She passed it to Shayasha Spencer (Geneva/Geneva) at the top of the key, who dished it to McLean just outside the free throw line. McLean flipped it to McCullough in the post, who hit a left-handed layup to put the Bengals ahead by two with two seconds remaining. Oswego’s three-quarter court heave at the buzzer hit backboard and rimmed out, as Buffalo State finished off the 65-63 win on Senior Night.
Buffalo State concludes its season against Fredonia, next Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.
