Congressman Brian Higgins, D-Buffalo, released a statement in response to today’s unanimous ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit against reinstating President Trump’s travel ban:
“The framers of the Constitution created a three branch system of government to allow for checks and a balance of power. I have a great deal of respect for the judicial process. This ruling confirms the Executive Order is not only morally outrageous and overreaching but unconstitutional,” Higgins said.
“I am proud to live in a community and country that welcome refugees and embraces the diverse strengths that people of all backgrounds bring to our culture and economy. We have a great deal to learn from one another,” he continued.
“Policy making by division gets us nowhere. I hope that Congress and the President can now focus on issues that can genuinely strengthen this Country’s foreign relations, national security, and economic growth,” he concluded.
