BUFFALO — The Niagara University women’s Purple Eagles basketball team is taking on Canisius at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Koessler Center.

The Purple Eagles earned a dominant 65-42 victory over the Manhattan Jaspers on Saturday. Kaylee Stroemple led the team in scoring with 17 points. Stroemple has scored 15 or more points in nine games so far this season. Stroemple and Victoria Rampado led the team in rebounding with eight rebounds each. Rampado also added 16 points for the Purple Eagles. Maggie McIntyre had a career-high six assists and Dagny Davidsdottir had a team-best two blocks to tie her career-high.
The victory was Niagara’s largest since Dec. 7, 2014, when they defeated Manhattan in the Gallagher Center, 64-36.

Redshirt-junior forward Rampado leads the Purple Eagles in scoring with 16.3 points per game and in rebounding with 7.9 rebounds per game. Rampado is second in the MAAC in rebounding and is third in scoring. Junior forward Stroemple also averages in double figure scoring with 12.7 points per game. Stroemple has the third-best field goal percentage in the MAAC; she is 117-for-227 for a percentage of 51.5. Jamie Sherburne is tied for sixth-most assists in the MAAC with 3.0 assists per game and has the sixth-best 3-point field goal percentage in the MAAC (37.5%). Niagara is second in the MAAC in 3-point field goal percentage; the team is 132-for-396 (33.3%), is second in free throw percentage (74.5%) and is fourth in the MAAC in overall field goal percentage (39.9%).

Sophomore forward Sara Hinriksdottir leads the Griffs in scoring with 14.7 points per game and in rebounding with 5.4 rebounds per game. Hinriksdottir ranks sixth in the MAAC in scoring. Margret Halfdanardottir, a junior guard, is fifth in the MAAC in 3-point field goal percentage (38.2%) and sixth in overall field goal percentage (48.0%). Senior guard Tamara Miskovic leads the team in assists with 3.1 assists per game. She has the fourth-most asissts in the MAAC. The Golden Griffins are third in the MAAC in field goal percentage (40.7%), fourth in the MAAC in assists (13.9 assists per game) and fifth in the MAAC in free throw percentage (70.7%).

The Purple Eagles head to Marist for a matchup with the Red Foxes at 2 p.m. Sunday.
