KENMORE — The Kenmore Police Department is warning area residents to be wary if they get a call from KPD — it might not be them.
The department said on its Facebook page, that they had been notified that their telephone number (716-875-1234) had been “spoofed” and could be appearing on caller IDs, despite the calls not coming from the police department.
The police department said, “Be aware the Kenmore Police Department will not call you about unpaid debts or fines. All our communications will be by mail and on official letterhead. If you should receive a call from 716-875-1234, the caller will identify himself as a Kenmore Police Officer and if you are unsure, hang up and call back to confirm that the police department did call you.”
