BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Matt Scott shared game-high honors with 18 points as the Purple Eagles fell to the Fairfield Stags, 81-61, on Thursday night in the first of three straight road games.

The opening five-plus minutes had five lead changes. Dominic Robb’s jumper gave the Purple Eagles an 11-7 lead before the Stags went on a 10-0 run for the fifth lead change. Trailing 26-18, a 9-2 run by the Purple Eagles brought NU within one point, 28-27, with 5:28 left in the half. Fairfield responded with a 9-0 run in 2:37 as the Stags went into halftime leading 43-31. The Stags’ offense stymied the Purple Eagles’ comeback effort in the second half.  NU cut the lead to nine points three times, but the Stags answered with a run on each occasion.

Matt Scott scored 18 points and had eight rebounds. Kahlil Dukes scored 16 points and had a team-high four assists. Dominic Robb added 10 points, nine rebounds and a game-high six blocks.

Dominic Robb increased his MAAC-leading blocks total to 63 and is now tied with Juan Mendez for the fourth most blocks in a single season. Dominic Robb joins Joe Arlauckas as the only Purple Eagle to have multiple six-plus block games in a single season. Kahlil Dukes leads the team with 21 double-digit scoring games, while Matt Scott has scored in double figures in 10 straight games.
