BUFFALO — Buffalo State men’s and women’s hockey teams will be hosting a conference doubleheader this Saturday, as the women’s team takes on Neumann in an ECAC West contest at 4 p.m. followed by the men’s SUNYAC match up against Morrisville State at 7 p.m. at the Buffalo State Ice Arena.

Preceding the games, both teams will host their annual Alumni Games, with the women’s alum facing off at 11 a.m. and the men’s alum taking to the ice at 1 p.m.

The women’s alumnae game, named “Maddy’s Game” is the program’s 11th annual meeting between former players.  The game is named after former Bengal, Madeline (Maddy) Loftus, who was among the passengers on Continental Express Flight 3407, which crashed in Clarence Center, N.Y. on February 12, 2009.  She was returning to Buffalo to take part in the women’s reunion game that was scheduled to take place two days after the crash.

The men’s alumni game is the 17th annual meeting between the former Bengals.

Women’s hockey (13-5-1, 8-4-0) enters the weekend winners of eight of its last nine, including three-straight conference victories to move them into fourth in the ECAC West.  A win over the Knights in either Friday or Saturday’s game will clinch a playoff berth for the Bengals for the third-straight year.

Men’s hockey (14-4-1, 6-3-1) was ranked No. 10 in the D3Hockey.com and No. 12 in the USCHO national polls this week, and will look to end its season strong with six-consecutive SUNYAC contests left on the schedule, including road showdowns with No. 6 Geneseo (Feb. 11 at 7 p.m.) and No. 2 Oswego (Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.).

Fans can watch Saturday’s action live on buffalostateathletics.com.

Tickets are available for both the men’s and women’s hockey games at $5 per person.  Buffalo State students, faculty and staff are free with a valid school ID.
