PITTSBURGH, Pa.— Erin Gehen (W. Seneca, NY/W. Seneca West) netted a pair of goals and Buffalo State cruised past host Chatham for a 6-1 victory today in an ECAC West contest.

Bri Carroll (Peoria, AZ/AZ Virtual Academy) and Rachel Lenard (Orchard Park, NY/Nardin) added a goal and an assist each for Buffalo State. Natasha Steinle (Morrison, CO/CIHA) and Missy Mallon (Amherst, NY/Amherst) also scored , and Viivi Vaattovaara (Veikkola, Finland) and Cheyenne Matson (Wasilla, AK/Matsu Career & Tech) had two assists apiece. Mallon and Gehen got the Bengals started with first-period goals to give the Bengals a 2-0 lead at the first break.

After Chatham broke through in the second, Gehen responded with her team-leading 14th goal of the season, and Carroll added her sixth of the year just 10 seconds later. Lenard added a power-play marker before the end of the second stanza, and Steinle completed the scoring with the only tally of the final frame. Buffalo State outshot the Cougars, 23-17.  Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, CA/Arroyo) made 13 saves on 14 shots, before Serena Angelo (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) stopped all three shots she faced over the game’s final five minutes.

Buffalo State will host Neumann for a two-game set next Friday and Saturday.
