FREDONIA — The Canisius diving program will conclude its regular season this Saturday, as the team takes part in the Fredonia Diving Invite beginning at 1 p.m.

The Griffs will look to end their regular season on a high note after strong performances all season long, including an overall sweep of Niagara University last weekend.

The Griffs were led by junior Travis Wright and sophomore Vivian Mroz who each swept their respective one and three-meter diving events.

Wright scored 331.13 in the men’s one-meter and 334.35 in the men’s three-meter, while senior teammate Brent Carbone placed second in each event with scores of 285.53 in the one-meter and 312.15 in the three-meter.

On the women’s side, Mroz scored a meet best 228.98 in the one-meter and 237.30 in the three-meter, while freshman teammates Gianna Cornelia (218.55) and Vinnie Costanzo (207.53) placed second in the one and three meter events respectively.

For their efforts, Wright and Mroz were named MAAC Divers of the Week.  Wright has now won the award five times this season, while Mroz has been tabbed for the accolade three times.

Upon completion of the invite Saturday, the diving team will prepare for the 2017 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships to be held in Buffalo, N.Y. at the Burt Flickinger Center Feb. 8-11.
