BUFFALO — The Buffalo Sabres won 3-2 over the Detroit Red Wings when Kyle Okposo scored a power play goal with 26 seconds remaining in overtime.
Okposo’s goal, his 14th of the season, was assisted by Ryan O’Reilly and Jack Eichel. It was the second point of the evening for both of them.
Buffalo started out in the whole when Detroit scored on the power play at 9:02 in the first period.
Buffalo tied it at 5:06 of the second period on a Sam Reinhart power play goal. Eichel and Rasmus Ristolainen assisted.
In the third period, Detroit regained the lead at 13:38. O’Reilly scored to tie it again for Buffalo at 15:51, assisted by Cody Franson and Justin Falk.
The Okposo’s overtime goal earned the Sabres the extra point.
