BUFFALO — Buffalo State could not overcome 33 turnovers as New Paltz pulled away for the 76-38 victory over the Bengals today in a SUNYAC game at the Sports Arena.

Caleh McLean (New Rochelle/New Rochelle) led the Bengals with 10 points, shooting 4 of 15 from the field. Princella McCullough (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) had eight points and five rebounds. Taylor Graham (Santa Rosa, CA/Maria Carrillo) added six points and four steals before leaving the game with an injury in the fourth quarter. Buffalo State led briefly in the opening minutes, but New Paltz took a 24-11 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back.
After leading 36-21 at the intermission, the Hawks outscored the Bengals 22-6 in the third quarter and continued to run away with the victory. New Paltz shot 44 percent for the game, compared to 28 percent by Buffalo State. The Hawks netted 32 points off turnovers and held a 21-10 scoring advantage on the fast break.

Buffalo State will travel to first-place Geneseo on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
