AMHERST — A 37-year-old Tonawanda woman is facing three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, accused of allowing her 15-year-old drive with her 10-year-old and three-year-old in the back seat.

According to New York State Police, around 6:20 p.m. Monday, Troopers made a traffic stop on the I-290 in the Town of Amherst for speeding. During the interview it was determined that the operator was a 15-year-old driving siblings to dance because the mother, Denise M. Townsend-Wacker, didn’t feel good.

Townsend-Wacker was taken to SP Buffalo, where she was processed and issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Amherst Court for February.

The children were taken by a family member and NYS Child Abuse and Maltreatment Registry were contacted.
