TORONTO — The Buffalo Sabres took a 2-0 lead on the Toronto Sabres Tuesday night before falling 4-3 at the hands of the Leafs.

Kyle Okposo scored Buffalo’s first goal, unassisted at 10:16 of the first period. Evander Kane followed up Okposo’s 13th of the season at 19:27 with his 12th, assisted by Brian Gionta and Jake McCabe.

In the second period, Toronto took a 3-2 lead with goals by Leo Komarov, Matt Martin and Auston Matthews.

J Van Riemsdyk made it 4-2, Toronto at 13:04 of the third period. William Carrier helped to make the final few minutes of the game more interesting, scoring Buffalo’s third goal at 17:37.

The Sabres host Detroit on Friday at the KeyBank Center.
