KENT, Ohio — The Bulls return to the road Tuesday night when they face the Kent State Golden Flashes in only their second meeting against a MAC East school.

The Bulls have had their fair share of success against the Golden Flashes, winning six straight, including the last three at Kent State. UB is looking to become just the third different MAC program to ever win at least four straight at Kent State (Ohio, Toledo).

The six straight wins by the Bulls over Kent State are the most by a MAC program since Miami won eight straight from the Golden Flashes between 1994-97.  Ohio won 10 in a row against the Golden Flashes between 1991-95 and Toledo won seven straight between 1975-79.  Only seven other schools have ever won at least six straight and with a win Tuesday, Buffalo will be only the fourth MAC program to win seven in a row.

Buffalo is currently riding winning streaks of at least six games against two schools in the Mid-American Conference.  UB has defeated Kent State six straight times with the last loss coming in Cleveland during the 2012-13 season, while the Bulls have won 11 straight against Northern Illinois with their last loss coming in overtime during the 2005-06 season.

Kent State is 9-8 on the season and 1-3 in conference play following a 92-88 loss at Western Michigan on Saturday afternoon.  The Golden Flashes are looking to snap a three-game losing skid as they have not won since the MAC opener, a 100-90 victory over Ball State.  The Golden Flashes went 31-of-31 from the free throw line in that game.  Kent State also had a win over Texas to end non-conference play.

Kent State is led by preseason All-MAC East player Jimmy Hall, who is averaging a double-double with 17.2 points and 10.6 rebounds a game.  Jaylin Walker, who played for UB head coach Nate Oats at Romulus High School, is second on the team in scoring at 15.4 points per game and Deon Edwin adds 12.4 points per game.

Kent State is one of the top rebounding teams in the nation as the Golden Flashes are first nationally in offensive rebounds at 16.94 rebounds per contest and 12th overall in rebounding margin.  Individually, Hall is fifth nationally in offensive rebounding.

Rob Senderoff enters his sixth year as the head men’s basketball coach at Kent State. The 43-year-old took over the program in April 2011 after spending seven previous years on the Golden Flashes’ coaching staff. Senderoff earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Albany in 1995 and a master’s in sports studies from Miami in 1997.
