BUFFALO — Day one of the UB Diving Invitational is complete. The Bulls had stellar performances in the diving well, taking first in the women’s three-meter, and first and second in the men’s one-meter.

Thirteen women participated in the preliminaries of the three-meter dive, and the Top-Eight moved on to the finals. After posting a score of 247.55, Mackenzie Moss was in the eighth place spot, she worked hard on the boards, but ended up finishing seventh overall with a score of 251.15. Kelly Moran remained in the fifth place spot after the preliminaries, posting an overall score of 271.95. Abbey Croce was sitting in third place after preliminaries, but she was able to work her way to the top to seal a first place finish overall with a score of 310.80.

At the end of the preliminaries, every member of the men’s diving team was in the Top-Five. Troy Birdsall was holding a score of 277.65 for a fifth place finish. His teammates Dan Roche and Nick Rodriguez were in the two spots above him, with scores of 282.85 and 295.60, respectively. Kristian Santos was sitting in first at the end of preliminaries with a score of 343.55. The finals did not spread the team around two much; Birdsall remained in that fifth place spot with a score of 252.25, while Roche dropped to sixth. Santos fell into a second place finish overall, behind teammate Rodriguez.

The Bulls will be back in the diving well Saturday for the second day of the invitational. The meet is set to begin at noon.
