CHEEKTOWAGA — The Cheektowaga Police Departing is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two people it calls “persons of interest in the larceny of four diamond rings from a local retail store since the beginning of the year.”

CPD said the pair go to the jewelry counter and ask to see the $2,000 rings, which they swap out with $8 rings while no one is looking — and leave with the more expensive rings in their pocket. They have been observed leaving in a grey four-door Toyota Corolla which has been parked in the handicapped spots on at least two occasions.

The male is approximately 35-45 years old, six-feet, two-inches tall, weighing approximately 230 pounds. The 50-year-old-or-so female is reportedly 5-foot, 10-inches with a larger build.

Anyone with information is urged to call Det. Griffin at 716-686-3979.
