SALEM, Mass.—Six different Bengals scored and Serena Angelo (Rocheser/Greece-Athena) earned her first collegiate victory as Buffalo State defeated host Salem State, 6-2, today in a non-conference game.

Erin Gehen (W. Seneca/W. Seneca West), Emma Ruggiero (Amherst/Sacred Heart) and Madeline Kromer (Angola/Lake Shore) had a goal and an assist each to pace the Bengals offense. Natasha Steinle (Morrison, CO/CIHA), Bri Carroll (Peoria, AZ/AZ Virtual Academy), and Brooke Krantz (Penticton, BC/Penticton) also scored for Buffalo State. Gehen opened the scoring with her team-best ninth goal of the season just 2:51 into the game, and Steinle scored her third goal in as many games to push the lead to 2-0 before the end of the first period.

Salem State got on the scoreboard just one minute into the middle frame, but Ruggiero responded for the Bengals just 31 seconds later. The Vikings closed the gap to one again later in the period, but Buffalo State scored twice with markers from Carroll and Kromer late in the stanza.

Krantz netted her second of the year for the only scoring in the third period.

Angelo finished with 19 saves, earning the win in her first collegiate start. Buffalo State held a 42-21 advantage in shots. Buffalo State will next host Williams in a non-conference game on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
