Mr. Blackwell served with the US Army as a radio mechanic . He was a truck driver, owner/operator for many years. He joined the Sanborn Fire Company in 1970 and was an Exempt member of the company, he also served as the financial secretary of the companies fire police. He was also with the Civil Defense Auxiliary Police. He enjoyed being with his family, fishing, hunting, camping and traveling.
Mr. Blackwell was the husband of the late Ann A. [Mianakian] Blackwell, who died in February of 2009.
He is survived by two daughters Rosann (Jim) Martin and Alana Blackwell, three grandsons Jimmie, Alan and David, a great granddaughter Kathleen, two brothers Alex (Pat) Blackwell and Fred (Sharon) Blackwell and his special friend Austin. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
His family will be present on Friday from 4-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where the Sanborn Fire Company will have a memorial service at 7:00 PM, followed by military honors.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in his name to the Sanborn Fire Company.
